An autostart.sh file may be needed for certain users depending on their situation.
To create an autostart.sh file you will need SSH access.
I also recommend you install the nano add-on as it will make editing the file much easier.
Via ssh execute the following command.
echo "#!/bin/sh" > /storage/.config/autostart.sh && chmod +x /storage/.config/autostart.sh
After this an autostart.sh file will be available via the configfiles samba share. You can edit the file there or you can continue on via nano.
Many user want to actually mount their network shares to their filesystem in order for programs like transmission and SABnzbd to be able to write to them. This may also be the case for PVR recordings.
